BLK Girls Connect (BGC) was founded to transform how Black women network in NYC and beyond, moving away from transactional models to intentional social experiences. Rooted in culture, collaboration, and support, our mission is to create welcoming spaces that blend professional growth with personal celebration. We believe community thrives through shared experiences, authentic relationships, and uplifting environments that feel like family.

Meet the Team
Sobrel Okpo
A Columbia University graduate with a Master of Science in Social Work, Sobrel is an outpatient therapist serving the Bronx. She is deeply dedicated to helping underrepresented minority groups navigate the healthcare system while directly addressing the disparities faced by BIPOC communities due to systemic racism. A natural leader and former co-president of the Black Caucus, Sobrel brings a compassionate, advocacy-driven approach to our team.


Effeh Badu
A Master of Science in Accounting graduate, Effeh leverages a strong foundation in finance and accounting to empower the next generation. With a focus on financial literacy and wealth building, she is deeply committed to civic engagement and leadership development. By combining her professional expertise with a passion for mentorship, she creates meaningful opportunities for young adults to lead with excellence and navigate their professional journeys with confidence.
